Great shoe but does not last! Ive had several because they are so comfy but then regret buying them as they all split across the toe. They are not water proof.These are not mountain climbing type hiking "boots". These are light weight hiking shoes. They have good grip, hug your foot, coming just below the ankle and covers well over the top of the foot. Also has good heel stability. Because they form so well to your foot, the top couple laces must be loosened to get your foot down into the shoe. Very happy with the purchase.Too large. Usually wear an 8 1/2 , in some shoes an 8. Bought size 8 1/2, and the length was at least a size 9 in the pair I was sent. Unable exchange them since the right size is sold out.My wife loves them. She has continued to break them in, but they are good out of the box. The big difference between these and trail running shoes is the "Heel hold" area and the toe box. Both areas are supported well so that your foot stabilizes and toes don't jam while descending. Good fitment around the heel also prevents additional shock to the back. Should you be in the market for a good looking alternative to trail running shoes, this is a great option.At first fit the shoes felt sturdy, while the insole felt comfortable. It felt like my feet were being hugged yet my toes weren’t squished, a hard-to-find quality with shoes for me. But as soon as I took steps the shoes felt big and clunky. I initially thought it was the design and that I’m used to slimmer shoes (like leather boots), but found the shoes slipping off at my heels. These size 9 were more like 9.5. Unfortunately I’m returning these, as 8.5 isn’t available.I LOVE these shoes. In my personal experience, the brown ones fit differently than the grey ones. The brown ones were too tight across the toe box. The grey ones were not too tight across the toes, but I had to go down a half size. My normal 9.5 was way too long. The 9 was just right.I love these shoes. I wear them hiking or even walking the dog in the winter when I don't want to put on my snow boots.
